Trying to Eat Mindfully

by papercraneyoga

I love that this story on eating mindfully is No. 1 most emailed on NYTimes.com. My first introduction to mindful eating was the book “Savor” by Thich Nhat Hahn and Dr. Lilian Cheung. It’s an awesome book on eating slowly and with presence, acknowledging where food comes from and choosing and chewing food with intention. Do I do it? Er, sometimes. I try to eat mindfully once a day, but in reality, it’s closer to once every three days. I gave up sugar for 40 Days to a Personal Revolution on Jan. 7, and haven’t eaten (much) sugar since. (Feb. 17 is Judgment Day.)  But even on days I fail, I just try again the next. If you want to try it out, give the apple meditation a whirl. An apple has never tasted so good.
